The “Our Story” part of Operation Cookies starts in the best decade there ever was…..the 80’s. (Yes, last century)
Angie is the maker/baker of the delicious and amazing cookies being created. Paul is her support and otherwise significant other (fiance’) behind the scenes. We met as kids back in the early 80’s when we were both in the 7th grade at the tender age of 13. We lived in the same neighborhood, played kickball, rode bikes, went to dances, hung-out, all the innocent things kids do.
When 9th grade approached, Angie left our hometown and headed to Chicago where she would remain into adulthood. There was no communication for over 30 years until one day in 2015, they met back up thru Facebook and formed a relationship.
Angie had honed her baking skills thru the years receiving praise from family, friends, co-workers, anyone who had the opportunity to try them. Gracious in her nature, Angie always made cookies for any occasion, thousands of cookies.
Fast forward to 2016 when Paul deployed to Afghanistan for his last deployment before retirement from the Navy after 30 years of service. Angie, made over 20 care packages and these weren’t your ordinary care packages. Each came with a separate theme in an oversized bankers box. They were stuffed full of goodies, treats, and of course – her homemade cookies. Everyone on the Team looked forward to the boxes coming in. The Australian Colonel in charge enjoyed them so much that he ended up buying Angie a gift – an Australian cookbook. Angie graciously used a recipe out of the cookbook and sent it over for all to enjoy.
We are passionate about our country, the freedoms we enjoy and are forever thankful for those who serve our country and protect our way of life. Without the bravery of these men and women, the way of life we all know today would not exist. It is for the sacrifices of those in uniform, any uniform, that we will always support. Our military, first responders – everyone who willingly sacrifices for our country.
We sincerely acknowledge the extreme sacrifices made by those in uniform and it is for this reason that we donate to various organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House Foundation and most recently, the Gary Sinise Foundation. Since inception on the company in June 2019, Operation Cookies has donated $1,100 to these foundations (as of February 2020)
